Research & Scholarship
The focus of this course is on the content and the mechanics of effective data analysis and reports writing. Tools involved are to analyze textual and graphical data from many sources, process data in ways that can be understood, and generate comprehensive academic and business reports.
Data Analysis and Report Writing
EDTC 803
Liberty Science Center Visit concluded with a paper on a creation of an interactive science center exhibit of "Electronic Sketching".
Aligned with specific data, this paper constructs interpretations and analyzes of management personnel.
This memo communicates through statistics and the numbers that best represent the results of data from multiple sources.
This memo communicates visually through the use of specific related charts and graphs that best represent the results of data from multiple sources.
Research Methods in Educational Technology Leadership
EDTC 806
With the program's emphasis on the scholarship of teaching and innovative learning experiences, this course is an in-depth treatment of the research process and techniques for planning and designing research projects. Emphasis will be placed on the appropriate choice of methodologies for a variety of problem situations.
The purpose of this quantitative research study is to examine the implementation of robots as a teaching tool, on students’ academic success in solving problems in comparison to students who were not exposed to robots in solving the same problem in an intermediate school environment.
The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore the primary reasons that inspire student motivation when working with the robot in the classroom.
The purpose of this sequential explanatory mixed method design study is to explain how student creative behaviors and learning experiences can be fostered and expanded through a LEGO robotics program in an intermediate level classroom.
Assessment and Evaluation
EDTC 809
This course is an introduction to a systematic inquiry using assessment methods to understand, evaluate and solve user and organizational needs. Integration of research methods with real-world challenges of conducting and analyzing research in educational and corporate settings.
This assignment consisted of completing an observational notetaking exercise. The purpose of this assignment was to understand how to take ethnographic field notes and draw conclusions through the utilization of jottings, full observational notes, coding, and analysis. This provided a real experience.
This assignment consisted of researching and composing a qualitative research study.
This assignment consisted of completing field research study in an area which is different to the proposed dissertation topic. I chose a study focusing on computational fluency and Scratch.
This assignment consisted of completing field research study in an area which is different to the proposed dissertation topic. I chose a study focusing on computational fluency and Scratch. An IRB with details on the method included in the project.
Statistics for Educational Research
EDTC 810
Competence in applying, synthesizing, and evaluating statistics from sources including the dissertation, journals, technical reports, and Web sites is the main focus of this session. Emphasis on the scholarship of teaching, projects will move from basic to context-driven statistics and apply the fundamental concepts and procedures of descriptive and inferential statistics to real-world applications.
This activity provided an introduction to interpreting and comparing statistical data in media and research journals.
This group project completed by Carol Munn, Manuel F. Negron, and Denise Tate developed a website explaining Descriptive and Inferential Statistics.
This is an activity which involves critiquing of a peer group's Statistics website.
Statistical Analysis Paper on 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 PARCC Scores for English Language Arts and Mathematics is the final project for this course involved the selection, analysis and interpretation of a data set.
